Synot opens Czech law issues

Czech distributor Synot holds Open Day to highlight the changes to Czech gaming law.

Shortly after the high profile exhibition at the Forbes Show in Prague, Synot Holding held an Open Day at its company headquarters in Uherske Hradiste. The Open Day was intended partly to support the sales of AWP machines towards the end of the year, but mainly to familiarise customers with the proposed changes to the gaming law that are currently before the Czech Parliament. Synot was pleased to have present Mr. Pavel Nemec, Director of the Lottery Supervision Section of the Ministry of Finance for The Czech Republic, along with Mr. Jan Snajdr and Mr. Ivo Kasal of UNASO (the Association of Czech Gaming Business), who gave a presentation on the changes to the legislation and were available to answer questions from customers. "The Gaming Law is one of the few which has remained unchanged since the first few years after the revolution in November 1989. In many ways it still fulfils the requirements of the industry even today.

      The problem now is the operation of gambling games over the Internet, where there is considerable difficulty determining the real age of the players. No doubt we cannot leave it like that," said Pavel Nemec of the Czech Ministry of Finance, who outlined the main points of the new legislation. Synot Holding, who achieved a gross operating profit of almost 3bn Czech crowns last year, presented a complete portfolio of gaming machines with AWPs from lPM and Gauselmann, multi-players, IVT terminals developed in cooperation with Boss Media as well as betting terminals from sister company Synot TIP.

*  Bob Rudd backs Cashflow 9500e

Since moving to Earls Court in the early 1990s, on the international circuit, has attracted over poker gambling industry professionals from no fewer than 173 nations.  Now, with the 62nd annual Amusement Trades Exhibition International (ATEI)fast approaching, show organizers are gearing up to stage what they believe will be seen by many as another landmark event for operators across every geographical market.

  ATE’s head of marketing, John Fenna explained: “Experienced visitors already know that when they register to attend ATEI they are effectively insuring themselves against missing out on important business opportunities.  No where else can they find such a diverse range of new products and services offered by the broadest base of suppliers assembled under any one roof.”  Three months ahead of Earls Court’s s doors opening, the ATEI floor plan was already packed with 264 exhibitors drawn from 30 countries, a record proportion of which (46 per cent ) are suppliers based outside of the UK.  Added to this will be at least 182 companies from 34 countries in the co-located casino strategy and igaming show, ICE/ICEi, and 39 in the inaugural Visitor Experience Show.  “The spread of product sectors at January’s show has widened,” continued Mr. Fenna.  “There will be increased numbers of exhibitors spanning several sectors including family amusements, video games, prizes vending, income protection sports-themed games, machine components and spares, gaming and used equipment.”  He concluded: “No matter how specific their product requirements may be, ATEI 2006 will offer visitors plenty of choices, not to mention a whole raft of new ideas being adapted to suit different jurisdictions the world over.”

Merit Entertainment has announced two new appointments to the company.  The first, Bob Mills, has been named Merit’s Vice President, North American Sales, reporting Dave Logan, Merit’s Chief Executive Officer.  “Bob brings a wealth of industry experience and leadership to our senior sales role,” said Mr. Logan.  The second appointment is Tom Kane, who takes the newly created role of Vice President, Market Development and Sales Planning, also reporting to Mr. Logan.  “In this new role, Tom will work closely with our team and the organization of Rowe, our sister company, to support the development of new sales processes at Rowe and between the companies, for the benefit of our customers,” said Mr. Logan.
