ATRONIC SYSTEMS

Eighty per cent of the players took immediately to a card-based  cashless system on the first night it was employed at casinos Austria’s location at velden, on the Slovakian border.  That was on February 1 and it Heralded the first major inroad into its home territory by Austrian-based Atronic systems.

Director of sales and marketing Anette Jauch was at Velden for that triumph for her Chip Cash Card system.  “We had 170 slot machines go live at the same time.” She said.  “Of course we had concerns that there might be teething troubles, but there were none – it operated perfectly right from the start and there was a much higher take-up of the cards by the players than we expected for the first night.”  Casino Velden reported that the turnover since introduction of the Chip Cash card had been phenomenal and unheard of during that time of the year.
Atronic Systems now has around 20 Chip Cash installations across Europe, mainly in Germany and Switzerland, but also in Spain and Lithuania.  And there are some more major triumphs for the systems to come, with Greece’s Loutraki only waiting for its government license to use Chip Cash and the first major experiment by Holland Casinos with the card system.  That will take place in its Einhoven location in mid-May sponsored by the Dutch Government.

It is all part of Europe’s gradual movement away from the use of coins in slot machines.  The question for most operators is whether they should opt for ticket-in, ticket-out or one of the several card systems which are available.  This battle, says Jauch, is going the way of cards, even though North America had favored TITO.  European operators do not always emulate their colleagues across the Atlantic.  They appeared to favour the extra benefits which can be programmed into card systems such as Chip Cash, combining all the benefits of pokerplayer tracking with user – friendliness and arguably its greatest advantage of all, promotional use.

“Every casino with a system- for management information, player tracking and bonusing /jackpots is now moving into promotional points or even cashable or replayable points.  These can be automatically added to a card, or employed at certain times of the day, or even given a short lifespan such as 24 hours, to ensure that player return.      “There is so much flexibility in a cashless system when it is harnessed to a card and I firmly believe that it is this benefit which will eventually result in the triumph of cards over TITO.”
Atronic Systems, through its bases in Monaco and Austria, had devised extremely advanced management and player-benefit systems for many years and has now become the leading supplier to the European market.  The ability to tailor-make a system to suit the demographics of a particular location, its user friendliness, efficiency, reliability and above all, security, has given the company a leading advantage over its rivals.  Jauch, at the sharp end of the Atronic System advances, forecasts that the years to come will see systems offer an increasing range of management services and entertainment-enhancing benefits for players way beyond what is currently available.

WEBAK

Four years of hard development work for the webak-linux- game box resulted in a major breakthrough for webak at the London ATEI show in January.

“Even before the show we had registered successes with a constantly increasing demand for the Linux-Game box.  One reason for that was the sales flexibility of Webak,” said CEO Kurt Kreiner.  The company offers its own cabinet in combination with different games on the Game box which can also be supplied on its own, because it is compatible with other cabinets on the market.  Design, software and hardware are 100 percent  Webak’s own development.
“About two years ago the Webak-Game box with its first game, Jungle, superseded the MPU 2000,” Kreiner commented.  “From the outset the Game box’s popularity grew monthly and the range of games on offer was expanded with additions such as Bell Scatter, which had achieved tremendous success on different European markets.”
Through its American distributor the Webak-Linux-Game box with different games was submitted to the BMM Test Labs in Las Vegas.  Approval was obtained for the distribution in American (Oklahoma Compact) jurisdiction and other American approvals will be pending.  “This is just the start”, said Kreiner.  “It is our target to reach the highest level of approval – having our product marketed and sold in the State of Nevada.”

Webak Austria will be celebrating its 25th anniversary shortly.  The first Webak video-based game, the Fruit Star Bonus, was a success 15 years ago when it was written on Assembler and was running on the MPU 12 at the time.  Because this game has achieved such a great success to this day Webak has now transferred it on a 1:1 basis for the new Linux-Game box.  Despite its age, it has experience a renaissance in different countries, especially the Czech Republic.

Another success story is the amusement game Fruity Bars, which does not fall under any gaming law and is very user friendly.  Ninety-five per cent of the total Webak production goes into export, with strong sales in countries like Germany and Romania.  Sweden looks very promising too, because of a new gaming law due to be introduced around June 2006.
Webak’s policy for the new Game box is not quantity – some competitors launch multigames with as many as 20 games or more, but with three top games of absolute quality and with the guarantee of a 100 per cent in-house development and production.  Said Kreiner: “This policy has proven over the years to be right and successful one for us and we will continue to adhere to this approach."
