Sound Leisure invests

UK-based jukebox manufacturer Sound Leisure has invested in a new CNC router for its woodworking division.  The router was installed last month and is already turning out various cabinets for the extensive Sound Leisure range of jukebox and retail products.  Chris Black, managing director of Sound Leisure, said of the investment: “The router helps us to improve our quality even further and also allows us to offer our wood shop facilities to outside parties at a competitive rate.
      “With the costs of raw materials increasing and the number of regulations governing manufacturing multiplying, are investing heavily in new technologies to help improve the manufacturing process.”

*  Sega Amusements Europe, based in the UK, has appointed Peter Murphy to head up its new spares business.  Sega says it is going to be “aggressively developing” beyond its current guise as a video game  manufacturer.  It recently made a start by developing product in house with Ford Racing  Full Blown and has other projects in the pipeline.  The spares business, which is due to commence in the coming months, will add another string to the bow.
      Paul Williams, Sega’s head in Europe, said: “For the past five years Suzo has offered zan excellent service in supplying Sega spares, for which we are grateful.  However, the time has come to bring it in-house and make Sega a one-stop shop for customers.”  Peter Murphy brings with him 26 years of industry experience, including the last 14 at Brent Electronics.

ASTROSYSTEMS HEADS EAST

Inspired by recent success at the World of Games exhibition in Russia, AstroSystems continues to promote its GBA and Microcoin ranges of the note and coin validation equipment into the eastern European markets.
      Debbie Robb, head of sales and marketing, commented: “The recent World of Games exhibition proved to be an excellent opportunity to showcase our existing Microcoin QL and GBA ST1 .  It is a cost effective, compact note stacker unit, with optional locking cashboxes which delivers exactly what this market requires.  “Building upon the success of the popular GBA HR1 note validator in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Ukraine markets, we are working to expand our growing field base into neighboring territories such as Russia.  In view of this, we will have representatives attending both EELEX and the Kiev shows this month.”

Making the Most of Merkur

The Czech Republic town of Most, which has 68,000 inhabitants and is located only 20 kilometers from the German border, is the latest recipient of a Merkur casino entertainment centre.
      The entertainment facility, the 17th Merkur venue in the country, is located in a modern shopping centre in the town, which is mainly known for its racetrack.  With floor space of almost 300sq.m, the centre offers state-of-the-art entertainment.  “The innovative product offering is consistently geared to the high quality  interior design and includes traditional gaming machines and electronic roulette but also a fashionable food and beverage zone,” said a Merkur spokesperson.


      Germany’s Gauselmann Group now operates 250 high-tech entertainment centres in Europe.  Of these, 190 are Merkur-spielothek gaming arcades in Germany.

*  GPT has appointed Novoparts KFT as a distribution and service centre for the Hungary and Romania.  Novoparts, based in Budapest, has been established for 14 years and has vast experience of the Hungarian and international gaming and amusement markets.  Novoparts will be available to support GPT customers in Hungary and Romania and surrounding areas.
